Made in sterling silver and heathergem this luckenbooth design dates back to the luckenbooths (locked booths or shops) of Edinburgh situated on the Royal Mile in the 15th century, and initially housing mainly silversmiths and goldsmiths.
The luckenbooth brooch is a traditional Scottish love token given by men as a betrothal or wedding brooch. It could also be pinned to a baby's shawl to ward off the devil.
Measures approx 1 " (2.6cm) wide, 1 1/2" (3.6cm) tall. Presentation box and information card supplied.
Please note all Heathergems are unique and the colour in stock will not necessarily be the same as these images.
